High school Course Selection Parent/Student Night-Jan 23rd

Dear Grade 9-11 Ingenuity Parents/Guardians:

You are cordially invited to attend 2019-20 High school course selection Parent/Student Information night on Wednesday, January 23rd. This session is highly recommended to attend as the counseling team will be sharing next year’s course offerings with you along with scheduling 1-1 parent meetings for the coming weeks to finalize your child’s 4-year graduation plan along with next year’s courses that he/she needs to take for meeting the State graduation requirements. Details of the night are below:

Medical Night

Harmony School of Ingenuity HIBSA team will be hosting their annual Medical Night on
Friday, November 9, 2018. We honorably invite you to attend and recount your experience as a
specialist. We wish to enlighten our students with personal testimonies on your behalf, given that
your knowledge is far more valuable than any other. We will present activities and give students
the opportunity to question the professionals attending. We want to provide our students who are
interested in pursuing a career in the medical field with the opportunity to meet the accomplished
individuals that can broaden their knowledge. We truly hope you are able to attend and share
your experience and knowledge with our aspiring medical professionals. Please let us know if
you will be able to attend, in order to set up a table, by contacting the HIBSA Leadership team

Scholastic Book Fair: October 8th – 12th

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library from Monday, October 8th, through the Friday, October 12th, but will be closed during testing hours on Wednesday. The fair includes several popular titles, like the new Babysitters Club graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier, the most recent Star Wars Jedi Academy book, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man by award-winning author Jason Reynolds, which is about the origins of Miles Morales: the new Spider-Man featured in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The fair will also feature posters, spy pens, chocolate calculators, and a variety of other colorful accessories. The book fair will be open from 8 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. to 4 p.m. and proceeds will help buy new books for the school library. For every $10 you spend at the fair, you will be entered into a raffle for a $10 book fair gift card, and the three winners will be announced on Friday afternoon. High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS)

High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) applications are now open! HAS is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Texas high school juniors to explore careers at NASA, learn about what they might want to study in college, and unite with like-minded students across the state. Following a series of online lessons, the highest achieving students will be invited to an all-expenses-paid, week-long visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston during the summer. Selected participants will plan a mission to Mars while receiving guidance from NASA scientists and engineers. Both the online and onsite portions are free to participants.

Our campus will be opening its doors on Saturday, September 29, 2018 to help you complete your lunch application. Please remember that the deadline to submit your lunch application is October 3, 2018. We would not  be able to determine your child’s status without the application and therefor meals will be charged at the full price.

Credit by Examination (CBE) Testing

Harmony School of Ingenuity offers CBE testing at no cost to students that are taking credit for acceleration* (testing without prior instruction). It is $40.00 per subject per semester for students who are taking credit for recovery (testing with prior instruction). There are limited spaces available, and it is first to come, first serve basis.

Our College Counseling Team would like to invite you all to our Senior Boot Camp (12th Grade) on September 22nd.

College Counseling along with teachers and the admin team leads the students in preparing for various aspects of their senior year. These items include but are not limited to the college planning and application process. This program provides critical and timely support, encouragement and guidance to seniors as they continue to shape and plan their college-going experience. Through a year-long series of workshops, along with consistent guidance, mentoring and support, students are best able to navigate the often-daunting college and scholarship application process.

Volleyball Club: Starts Sept 17th and will be played until the end of the first 9 weeks; will be played on MondayTuesday, and Thursday from 3:45pm – 5:00pm
Basketball Club: Have a meeting October 12th; Will be played through the second 9 weeks and the third 9 weeks; will be played on MondayTuesday, and Thursday from 3:45pm- 5:00pm
Boys and Girls Soccer Team: We will have a mandatory meeting September 20th from 4:00pm -5:00pm covering our expectations. All interested soccer athletes must attend with a parent!
